Ninety years after Vertov's classic "Man with a Movie Camera" was made, fortunately much has
changed in the production of the moving image. However, the editing techniques of the Montazhnitsy (female editors in the Soviet Union) who shaped the films of that era are still influential today. Many filmmakers learned directing by analyzing how other films are edited. "My university was the editing table," said Esfir Shub.
In the seminar we will focus on the theory and practice of editing, all participants will need the program Davinci Resolve 17 (free download).
In the second part we will transfer scenes from Vertov's film to the present and re-shoot them.
The seminar is open to all students, especially beginners.
