In this seminar, we will explore both the theoretical and practical aspects of photography. We invite you to engage with what Kaja Silverman calls "the threshold of the visible world": What are photographs? What do they address beyond what is depicted within the frame? And what is implied when we handle and share them?
Photography serves as a portal through which our relationship to the human and more-than-human environment is negotiated, made visible, and communicated. As a way of understanding the core of the photographic medium, this seminar embraces artistic research.
In the summer semester, we will undertake a practical exploration of the Fruchthalle collection from a feminist perspective. This includes visiting the collection, developing our own approaches to engaging with it, and participating in the exhibition at the Fruchthalle Rastatt in July.
This semianar is held in collaboration with Vera Gärtner(ADSZ).
