A workshop that explores the material properties and engagement with analogue and digital circuits in the manifestation of electronic signals, not only for sound, but also for image. Through the process of demodulation and signal shifting and swapping, an entangled field of possibilities is presented for the creation of audio-visual work.
Participants will immerse themselves in cross-modal techniques and convergent media practice, where sound and image find a common language. Some example circuits will be presented, and participants will be encouraged to develop these circuits into their own electronic systems for audio-visual work. Old and new technologies will collide in new encounters.
The results will be presented in a performance-installation that emphasises the process of making and materials. Students from all departments can participate. Media art credit points can be obtained. Please send a short e-mail to lschwarz(at)hfg-karlsruhe.de
With Lorenz Schwarz (Circuitry-Based Sound) and John Richards (Dirty Electronics). The course takes place in German and English.
