We cover our heads not only for protection and comfort but to express identity and belonging. Hats and head coverings can be practical objects, fashion statements, or cultural symbols. What meanings do different forms of headwear carry today? How do material, construction, and context influence the ways we wear and perceive them?
In this seminar, we will examine head coverings from both cultural and design perspectives. We will explore historical and contemporary examples, discuss their social and symbolic roles, and experiment with materials and making techniques.
The aim is to develop your own approach based on research, observation, and practical experimentation, wether that results in a wearable object, performative situations or speculative concept.

Obligatory seminar for first-year Product Design students; students from higher semesters are welcome.
