This two and half day workshop is based on Post-Colonia, an interdisciplinary project that emerged on the Apuan coast of Tuscany (Italy) in April 2025 and is still ongoing. Combining theoretical discussions and practical activities, the workshop explores the context in which Post-Colonia takes shape, the complexities of the surrounding landscape, and the symbolic and historical legacy of the architectural structures that inspired and hosted it — the former seaside camps (in Italian Colonie Marine).

The workshop reconsiders the imaginative power of art as both an antidote to decay and a catalyst for critical thinking on contemporary crises and issues. At the same time, it aims to activate new artistic sensibilities to produce resonances between local and planetary urgencies and to foster dialogue with human and more-than-human communities.
Students will engage in a series of prefigurative exercises to imagine possible futures for the festival. Drawing on pre-enactment exercises, these activities function as practices of collective imagination and speculative inquiry, allowing participants to rehearse alternative cultural, social, and ecological scenarios.
